Unveiling Meld’s Little Orange Book of Big Discounts 2013!
After months of blood, sweat and toil, we’re finally ready to lift the lid on one of the most exciting projects we’ve embarked on to date!
We’ve affectionately entitled it the Little Orange Book of Big Discounts– which, as its name suggests, is a nifty discount book we’ve created for students to get the most bang for their buck when they eat out, shop, travel and more.
It represents the handiwork of a group of business students who, last October, courageously took on the mammoth task of handpicking and personally inviting businesses and services that would suit the budget, needs and lifestyle of students, to be part of the project.
The result is a book containing some 100 discount vouchers equating to savings worth more than $1000, including deals at:
Ajisen Ramen Bao Now Chatime Coconut House Izakaya Chuji Momo Sushi Pepper Lunch PappaRoti Satay Bar | Cacao Green Ganache Chocolate Krispy Kreme Mad Mex Mercadante Nando’s Plantation porgie + Mr Jones Snag Stand | Ikea Central Grocery Hometown Asian Supermarket City Copy Dangerfield Eureka Skydeck Extra Green Holiday Picket Kbox |

None of the business and services featured have paid to be included, and proceeds from the sale of these books will go towards supporting our work as a not-for-profit organisation. That is, serving the vibrant international student community here in Australia, running an online newsroom, and providing training and real work experience opportunities for students preparing to enter industries such as media, business and law.
Over the years, we’ve also been approached by various organisations and groups to sponsor their efforts in reaching out to the student community.
While we have been unable to support their efforts financially in times past, we are pleased to be able to do so now through this project, by sharing 20 per cent of proceeds for every little orange book sold with student groups, clubs, societies, church organisation, social welfare organisations and the like who would like to help us distribute these babies.
Among the organisations we are currently proudly supporting through this project are the Monash Taiwanese Students Association, Deakin University’s Hong Kong Students Society, the Malaysian Students Society at Monash University, Malaysians of Melbourne University, the Psych Society at La Trobe University, Chai Junction, the Arrow Neighbourhood, ISM Cross Culture, ID Live and Life* Expedition.
We’re really proud of the amazing team Jessica William, Michelle Pisarski, Mandy Ma, Handoko Lie and Leon Saw, who have invested countless hours and sleepless nights to make this a reality. You did it!

The project would also have been impossible without our designer Marcus Huang, and the awesome mentors who have put in hours on top of their corporate jobs to guide and teach our students, so thank you!
Last but not least, we want to thank all our readers for your love through the years, and we invite you to continue showing your support by purchasing a copy of this book, online, or through your local student group or organisation.
