Think you have a winning idea that fills a gap in the community? The Young Upstarts Business Pitch Competition wants to hear from you!
Open to all students from Year 12 and above – including those who’ve freshly graduated from their studies in the past 12 months – this competition is an opportunity for young people to test their business ideas and make their first foray into the world of entrepreneurship.
In its second year, the Young Upstarts Business Pitch Competition is being run as part of the Melbourne International Student Conference hosted by Meld in partnership with the City of Melbourne.
The theme for the conference this year is “gaming changing experiences in a globalised world”, but business pitches do not need to be limited to the conference theme.
Students can take part in the competition as individuals or in a group of up to four members, and groups can include a mix of local and international students.
To take part, all you need to do is fill out the online entry form which gets you to address three basic elements:
- Your elevator pitch
- A brief description of your business
- Your investment sought
The closing date for submissions is August 19. Up to five pitches will be shortlisted and participants invited to present to a panel of entrepreneurs and business leaders at the Young Upstarts session on Day 2 of the Melbourne International Student Conference on September 6.
The winning individual or team will walk away with $500 cash prize as well as a mentoring session to take that business idea once step closer to reality.
Closing date for submissions is August 19, 2015 and shortlisted teams will be notified by August 27 to present at the Melbourne International Student Conference on September 6.
